Dear Friends,
This workshop, on June 7th from 3-5 in Chapel Hill, is open to anyone who is interested in singing or song leading in community. You do not need to consider yourself to be a “good” singer. If you want to sing at one of the rallies for immigrant rights, democracy, racial, gender, sexuality or climate justice, this event will support you in that!
I am clarifying this because a friend of mine
told me yesterday, “I want to come, but I’m not a singer”.
So I will be as clear as possible. The moment you sing one note, in my book, you are a singer. There are amazing performers with fantastic voices who we love and can learn from. But the experience of community song is a different thing. It is ancient, uplifting, energizing, heart opening & courage making. It is arising all across our country at this time because it is needed. This workshop is sponsored by Chatham Singing Resistance, one of several Triangle singing resistance groups. The more we all sing together the more songs we know and the more community we are building.
Please come sing if you want to sing! Love, Kathleen
