Dear Jula,
Happy Birthday! I love you so much.
The guy on the upper left is Peter Kowald, the bass player Christoper talked about on the radio show he was on. Kowald (who died a few years ago) resonated his bass with his voice and resonated his body with his bass. You had asked me to see if I could find a youtube of the song I'd heard, and I couldn't, so I got the album, As wild and out of the box as it is, I enjoyed some of it quite a bit, and thought you might like to hear it, whether or not you can take listening to a whole track! It's improvised, wild music.
The drummer is Rashied Ali, an American Muslim.
The saxophonist, Assif Tsahar, is Israeli. And bassist Peter Kowald
was from Germany. The three pieces below are my favorites.
If you want me to put up more tunes from the CD I'll be happy to do so. .
.The cut I listened to on the radio, which starts out with Kowald vocalizing with his bass, is the first one below. It's called Walking Shadows.
I have put the songs both as little players and also as files that you
could upload. This is not relaxing music except in the sense that
when it stops it's relaxing! All three musicians are very skilled,
and are doing amazing things though, and I find it to be humorous in places,
and definitely envigorating. I suggest listening when you are up for some energetic wildness.
I love you Jula! xxxxooo Leen

Also, I just downloaded a CD of the band I heard at Duke last night.
So I'm going to upload a couple tracks of that down below these wild tracks.
I just put players for that album...if you want me to upload the files so you
could download them, just let me know!
