The support from friends, family, choristas, musicians, and donors who co-created this album is mindblowing and indescribable. And the mysterious source that moves all of us is even more indescribable! Still, I'll do my best to describe my experience of your love.
Deep, every present, always new again, overflowing with grace, humor and financial generosity. Compassion in the face of fear, patience in the face of old patterns, joyous musicality in the face of microphones. The opportunity to record this music was life changing and profoundly affirming. Thank you so much for giving all of us this gift. As you listen to these songs I hope you'll recognize in them your ancient and generous heart singing back to you with infinite gratitude for your Love. Namaste! Kathleen |

No colors in the world, just black and white
You were wrong and I was right
But I won't go down that road no more
I won't go down that road no more
Because we knew in our hearts when the towers fell
We can make a heaven, we can make a hell
And I won't go down that road no more
I won't go down that road no more
I know that out beyond that road there is a field
Out beyond that road there is a beautiful field
When the soul lies down in that grass
The world is so full
The world is so full
The world is too full to talk about
And even words like you and me
don't mean nothin' when we get down in that field
In that field of the Heart
Out beyond that road there is a field
Out beyond that road there is a field
Out beyond that road....
Where the Heart does not need to ask
The Heart does not need to ask...
Out beyond ideas of wrong or right
Out beyond ideas, in that field
Oh Love I'll meet you in that field, in that field of
Love I'll meet you in that field, in that field of....
Where the smallest flower on the smallest grass
Shines with the answers to the question
Heart does not need to ask
Oh Love, I'll meet you in that field, in that field of
Love, I'll meet you in that field, in that field of...
Where the Heart does not need to ask
The Heart does not need to ask

Every fear, every war
Is just folks runnin' from your door
Every poet sings your song
Short time to be here, and a long time gone
Short time to be here, and a long time gone
Short time to be here in this world
Well I walk beside you, I learn how to give
Death, Death, teach me how to live
Through our shining, through our toil
We stand rooted in your soil
Like the autumn fields of brown
We all rise up and we will all lie down
Short time to be here, and a long time gone
Short time to be here in this world
Well I walk beside you, I learn how to give
Death, Death, teach me how to live

Every Little Child

lead vocal & piano - Kathleen Hannan; co-vocal - Sheila Fleming
chorus vocals - Elizabeth Peel, Jude Casseday, Lauren Martell, Sheila Fleming
bass - Xopher Thurston; drums - Nathan Logan; saxophone - Steve Cowles
One little child was born on Christmas day
One little child was born on Christmas day
One little child, one little child
One little child was born on Christmas day
One little child was born in Summertime...
One little child was born in Spring...
One little child was born in Autumntime...
And the angels came, did you hear them sing?
In the shining light of the maternity wing
Sayin' people do not be afraid
Love is new!
In the Heart of every child Love is born to you
Love is born, Love is born
Love is born in the rivers, in the mountain
Love is born in the Heart of every child
Love is born
Love is born in the foxes, in the earthworms
Love is born in every living thing
Love is born in you and me, right now!
And the angels came, did you hear them sing?
In the shining light of the maternity wing
Sayin' people do not be afraid
Love is new!

What The Baby Knows
© K Hannan
vocals & guitars - Kathleen Hannan
Did you rock all night? Did you hold her so close?
Did your heart fall open like a flower?
Did her breath rise sweet, in between your breath?
Did you almost remember what the baby knows?
What the baby knows, the baby knows
The baby knows just where the love comes from
Did she draw you in to her eyes so deep?
Did she call you back to the beginning?
With no words to say, did she teach you to pray?
Did she light a candle in your temple?
What the baby knows, the baby knows
The baby knows just where the love comes from

The Soul Is New
song, music and dance © Kathleen Hannan
lyrics from poetry of Lal Ded, beloved 14th century woman saint from North India
from translations/interpretations by Coleman Barks, Kathleen Hannan, N. Kotru & R. Nagar
lead vocal - Kathleen Hannan; vocals - Billy Coleman, Donovan Zimmerman,
Jude Casseday, Lauren Martell, Lea Clayton, Nick Alam, Ron Moss, Sheila Fleming
electric guitar lead - Raymond Smith; bass - Xopher Thurston; dumbec - Jude Casseday;
tamborine - Donovan Zimmerman; acoustic guitar - Kathleen Hannan
The soul is new and ever new again
Like the moon, like the moon
The soul is new and ever new again
Like the moon, like the moon
My teacher said just one thing,
"Live in the soul!"
When that was so I left my clothing by the road
And began to dance!
The soul is new and ever new again
Like the moon, like the moon
The soul is new and ever new again
Like the moon, like the moon
And I have seen the ocean always creating!
When I look deep into the truth of my own heart
Even I am new!

With every step I took, I knew I knew You
With every drop of rain, I knew I knew You
They say it's You who always stays
It's me who falls away
Oh show me how, I'll come back now
This is all I pray
Took a walk in the rain, and for a while
I knew You
In every drop I heard your voice, just for a while
I knew You
They say it's you who always stays
It's me who falls
paway
Oh show me how, I'll come back now
This is all, this is all, this is all I pray

I always had a ticket, always had a seat
I sat down in the front row, knew just who to meet
But I don't mind leavin' it behind
If you take me take me take me take me with you
Mother of the Night, take me with you
Keeper of my dreams, take me with you
I'm cryin' Take me take me take me take me with you
I'm singin' Take me take me take me with you
All the way home Take me take me take me take me with you
All the way home Take me take me take me take me with you
I stood before the mirror, the girl I knew was gone
She had a thousand answers, but I've just got this song
And I'll let go of everything I know
If you take me take me take me take me with you
Mother of the night Take me take me take me take me with you
Keeper of my dreams...
I'm cryin'....I'm singing...I'm on my knees...Mother of the night, take me with you
Underneath my fear, take me with you
Underneath my pain, take me with you
All the way home, take me with you
All the way home, take me with you
Into my Heart, take me with you
Into my Heart
Take me take me take me take me
Cause I always had a ticket......but I don't mind leavin' it all behind
If you take me take me take me take me with you.

Like A Ruby
© K Hannan
The night this song appeared I was experiencing the suffering of a
very busy mind, running through habitual patterns of victim thoughts
and hopelessness. By luck, or grace, I followed the urge to go outdoors
and lie down under the sky. I closed my eyes for just a few moments, turning
towards inner stillness. When I opened my eyes, only peace and the great
beauty of the night. I came indoors, and this song wrote itself within a
very short time. This experience taught me very clearly that the freedom
and peace of who I am without thought is always right here, and I can discover
that in a moment of letting my thoughts go, and turning inside to what remains.
lead vocal - Kathleen Hannan; vocal harmony 2nd and 3rd verse - Sheila Fleming;
vocal harmony 3rd verse Elizabeth Peel; bass - Xopher Thurston; cello - Emily Smith;
piano - Kathleen Hannan; violin - Gabe Pelli
Sometimes I get lost and
Sometimes I can't see and
Sometimes I get lonely, I get lonely, and
Sometimes I forget and
Sometimes I can't feel and
Sometimes I get lonely, still get lonely, but
Sometimes I remember to fall down on the ground and
Watch Mars Shine like a ruby
Orion comin' up, sorrow gone, gone
Sorrow gone!

Look Inside
© K Hannan
This song is inspired by the guru within all of us, the silence, the Heart, the aware presence that we are.
The song is dedicated with great gratitude to Ramana Maharshi, Gangaji, Papaji, Byron Katie, Adyashanti
and Ekhart Tolle for their simplicity, clarity and endless love in pointing us towards our own inner guru.
lead vocal - Kathleen Hannan; vocal harmonies - Bobbie Hayes, Jude Casseday, Lauren Martell, Sheila Fleming
piano & guitar - Kathleen Hannan; bass - Xopher Thurston; drum kit -Nathan Logan
Well there is a moment out of time
There's a miracle beneath the pain
Where I lose the things I think are mine
And find out what remains
Look inside, lose your name
When you're gone, what remains?
What remains? What remains?
What remains? What remains?
Allelu, Allelu, Alleluia
Allelu, Allelu, Alleluia
Allelu, Allelu, Allelu ya ya ya ya ya ya
What remains? What remains?
What remains, when you look inside your Heart?

Naked as this..... wind on the water
Naked as this.....one blue dragonfly and
Naked as this....clear summer sky and
I want to be, I know I am
I am naked, naked as this......
Naked as this....soldier in the desert
Naked as this....one child killed in war and
Naked as this....voice, that gave the order
I want to be, I know I am
I am naked, naked as this.....
Naked, naked as this....
Naked, naked as this....
Naked as this....sunlight on the sand and
Naked as this....one father's cry and
Naked as this...heart
My heart beating....
I want to be, I know I AM

One Day The Barn
© K Hannan
guitar, lead vocal - Kathleen Hannan; bass - Xopher Thurston; vocals - Billy Coleman, Donovan Zimmerman, Jude Casseday, Lauren Martell, Lea Clayton, Nick Alam, Ron Moss, Sheila Fleming
There was an old barn on top of the hill
Oh the world goes around
I thought it would last forever, but nothin' will
Oh the world goes around
Just like a swayback mule those beams hung low
On the world goes around
The tin roof would rattle when the wind would blow
Oh the world goes around
One day the barn fell down!
One day the barn fell down!
Just like a pile 'a bones it's lyin' on the ground
Oh the world goes around
My time's 'a comin' soon
Now I used to walk by and look at that barn....
I thought about the swingin' of the builder's arm...
I thought about the children playin' in the hay...
Their mama cookin' supper at the end of the day....
One day the barn fell down...
There's one thing I know I can trust....
Everything in that barn is gonna rot or rust...
The feathers and the hay, the old manure....
That barn'll be comin' up green for sure!....
One day the barn fell down....
Now there was an old barn on top of the hill...
If nothin' ever changed it would be standin' there still
One day the barn fell down!
One day the barn fell down!
Just like a pile 'a bones it's lyin' on the ground
Oh the world goes around
My time's a comin' too
My time's a comin' too
Oh my time's a comin' too

There's water in the well
Water in the well
Water in the well
All is Love
Water in the well
Water in the well
There's water in the well
All is Love
Seen and unseen
Known or forgotten
Ever rising in the well
All is Love
Seen and unseen
Known or forgotten
Ever rising in the well
All is Love
