  Kathleen Hannan

Here are some of the lyrics.

This song celebrates Death as a teacher who
initiates us into living our lives to the fullest.

Death, Teach Me
    c K Hannan
Every fear, every war
Is just folks runnin' from your door
Every poet sings your song
Short time to be here and a long time gone
Short time to be here, and a long time gone
Short time to be here in this world
Well I walk beside you, I learn how to give
Death, death, teach me how to live

In some eastern traditions the moon represents Consciousness. There are a couple of songs on the CD inspired by those traditions.  Here is Jane Hirshfield's translation of  Izumi Shikibu's poem, which inspired a song and circle dance called No Part Left Out.

Watching the moon at midnight
Solitary, mid-sky
I saw myself completely
No part left out.
                         Izumi Shikibu 10th Cent. Japan
                           translated by Jane Hirshfield

The CD will be released on November 9th in Durham.  If you'd like to preorder albums, please clickhere.

Every Child
   c K Hannan
And the angels came, did you hear them sing?
In the shining light of the maternity wing
Sayin' "People do not be afraid, Love is new!
In the Heart of every child Love is born to you."

Saraswati Devaya
traditional Indian chant to Saraswati, Goddess of Learning, Art, Music & Spiritual Awakening
Om Aim Schrim Hrim
Saraswati Devaya Namaha
(Divine Saraswati, I bow to you)
Rain Prayer
c K Hannan & L Hester
Took a walk in the rain, and for awhile
I knew You
In every drop, I heard your voice, just for a while
I knew You
They say it's You, who always stays
It's me who falls away
Oh show me how, I'll come back Now
This is all, this is all, this is all I pray
The Soul Is New
lyrics based on poetry of  Lal Ded,
14th century North Indian Mystic Woman
music and dance c K Hannan
The Soul is new and ever new again
Like the moon, like the moon
And I have seen the Ocean always creating
When I look deep into the truth of my own Heart
Even I am new!
Water In The Well
   c K Hannan
There's water in the well
Water in the well
There's water in the well
All is Love
Seen & Unseen
Known or forgotten
Ever rising in the well
All is Love

Out Beyond That Road
It took me three years to write this song, which is based on a poem by Rumi.  I began work on it just after 9/11, when Rumi's words, "out beyond ideas of wrong doing and right doing there is a field, I'll meet you there" kept running through my mind and heart.
Out Beyond That Road
             based on poem by Rumi
             additional lyrics c K Hannan

No colors in the world, just black and white
You were wrong and I was right
But I won't go down that road no more
I won't go down that road no more
We knew in our hearts when the towers fell
We can make a heaven, we can make a hell
And I won't go down that road no more
I won't go down that road no more
I know that out beyond that road there is a field
Out beyond that road there is a beautiful field
When the soul lies down in that grass
the world is too full to talk about
Even words like 'you' and 'me', don't mean nothin' when we get down in that field
In that field of the heart
Out beyond that road there is a field
Where the heart does not need to ask
Love I'll meet you in that field
In that field of Love
