  Kathleen Hannan
I'll be leading an evening of Dances of Universal Peace in Belfast, Maine on Saturday evening, September 13th.
The event is open to the public with free admission.  The dances and songs are based on sacred phrases from the world's spiritual traditions.  They are easy to learn, and refreshing for the body, mind and spirit.  There will be live music on guitar, bass and drums.  Details are in the flyer below.  If you have any questions, please write to me at merpig@juno.com, or through the contact page on this website.  I hope to sing and dance with you soon!                                                                   Love, Kathleen

In Memory of Nelson Mandela     July 1918 - December 2013
A friend just wrote and asked whether my song Count My Heart could be heard on line anywhere, so I'm posting it here tonight, in loving memory of Nelson Mandela and all those who have worked, lived and died for justice in South Africa. I wrote this song in 1994 after hearing a South African man and woman being interviewed on the radio as they stood in line waiting to vote in the first free South African elections. The man said, "That this has finally happened in our lifetime, I am filled with joy, like a dreaming child."   The woman followed, "We only know what has gone before, we can't say what's coming now."  That is always true....our minds can only know what has gone before. The great and mysterious gift of Nelson Mandela was his ability to see with his heart, to see something new coming.  May we all discover in ourselves the faith that he had in us.   Love to all, Kathleen

Seen & Unseen

Songs From The Light of Midlife
released November 9, 2013

The CD release concert on November 9th
was a night shimmering with Love which I will always remember.  We were a very full house of 16 people on the stage and 220 people in the room. The beauty of that many human voices singing together was so moving...we felt the reverberations of the music down in every cell of our being.
As Sharon Blessum wrote, "One Heart singing in 200 voices."  Thanks to everyone who was there in person, and thanks those of you who were with us in spirit.  I have heard from lots of folks that they are singing the songs along with the CD as they travel down the road and in their homes.  My heart is  so happy knowing that these songs are living with you now.

Information about Bodies, Voices & Spirit Chorus

THANK YOU EVERYONE!
Thanks to the tremendously generous support of 140 individual donors and an Orange County Arts Commission grant, we met our original goal of $11,000!
17 songs were recorded, mixed and mastered, thanks to the great generosity and commitment of ten musicians and 31 singers in total. Thanks to Jerry Brown at The Rubber Room Studio for a beautiful job from start to finish, both in his excellent technical skills and in his ability to support and connect with every musician and singer on the project.  Thanks to my partner, Jude Spacks, whose love, support, humor and deeply creative nature keeps me sane and surprised. Thanks to the Bodies, Voices & Spirit Choristas who have loved, sung and shaped these songs for so many years. Thanks to all of you who came to the CD release concert, where we collectively rocked the rafters with Love.  I feel like the luckiest person in the world, and I am deeply grateful to each of you who helped made this happen. More credits and gratitude on this page.

All these songs are about Love in the largest sense. Check out the lyrics here.
I'm feeling amazed and so very grateful for the deep Well
that has created, rehearsed, played, sung, recorded, funded
and supported these songs and this project in hundreds of ways.
What a miracle that collectively we are that ever-flowing water!
Thanks to all of us, the world has 17 more Love songs to sing!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Love & Namaste Y'all

The slide show above, to the sound track of the song I Know Myself
is something I made when we started the CD project.
The CD is now a reality, and I'm leaving the slide show up because I like it,
and because it reminds me of the magic of how this whole project
came together.  To order the whole CD, click

Where Do These
Songs Come From?

In a terrified moment of a midlife health crisis

9 years ago, I stumbled into self-inquiry...
asking my heart direct questions about my deepest fears.

To my complete amazement, the Heart responded, opening a door to awareness of
a profound peace
I hadn't known (or hadn't remembered)
is inside me, and inside of everything.

That surprising, ancient, good news expresses
as music -
songs about Love in the largest sense.

I am deeply grateful to the singers of the
Bodies, Voices & Spirit Chorus,
who have
loved and developed these songs with me
as we've sung them together over the years.

.
Thanks also to the wonderful musicians,
who donated their
time and love
to rehearse and record this album.

.
And thanks to the community of
friends and supporters
who have sung
these songs with us at benefits, in churches,
at interfaith celebrations,
while dancing,
walking on beaches, doing the dishes,
& rocking babies to sleep.
