The picture above is of the very first Human to Human Circle Dance and Sing outdoor meetup, in Downtown Durham. Although we did not sing the song below, the lyrics to which are a poem by Rumi, I feel this song captures the spirit of what it was like. People we had not met joined us in song and dance, and it was a truly joyful experience to, as Rumi says, "move outside the tangle of our minds" together. Our next meetup will probably be the last Saturday in October. Being The Noise
lyrics Rumi from translation by Coleman Barks
music and dance © K Hannan
There is a community of the spirit
Join it, and feel the delight
Of walking in the street, walking in the street
Walking the noisy street, and being the noise
Being the noise, being the noise
Walking the noisy street and being the noise
Being the noise, being the noise
Walking the noisy street and being the noise
Why stay in prison when the door is open? So wide open!
Why stay in prison when there is no door at all?
Move outside the tangle of your mind
Move outside the tangle of your mind
Move outside the tangle of your mind
Open your hands, if you want to be held
